Nike + Tokyo Olympics

When Team USA Olympians were presented with medals in Tokyo, they wore a sustainable head-to-toe ensemble designed by Nike. At Tolleson, as part of the internal Nike packaging team, I managed and produced the sustainable packaging for this look.

The garment bag was made from recycled water bottles, while the straps and stitching were made from repurposed materials. Nike’s proprietary Grind material was used for zipper pulls, toggles, buckles, and snap details. With the Nike Grind team and our print supplier, I conducted die testing to extrude the sustainable material with the Nike swoosh. Today, Nike Grind has transformed over 130 million pounds of waste into gear and apparel.
